the bethrothed

Drew, Jenna, & Katie are my neighbors (& the best babysitters ever) & they asked me to do my first "official" photo shoot on Saturday as a gift for mother's day to their moms. They were SO cute....

chicken fight!!

RB & Watson - how cute!!

we are already planning her wedding to Watson

ellison's new mother-in-law, MD

destined for love.....

Some of our best friends in the world came to visit us from Richmond last week, Mary Dupre, Rush Baker, & Watson Caldwell. We became fast friends when we all lived in Charleston & did Young Life together (ahh.. those were the glory days). I mean, these are some "super duper" (as Chase would say) people. Watson & Ellison were born only hours apart. Literally, I was in the hospital & MD called (& Chris answered the phone) & told her that we were getting ready to have Ellison. So later she called on her way to the hospital! They were both named after our maiden names too which is so cute. Anyhow, we already have the entire wedding planned out & I now refer to MD as MIL (mother-in-law). You don't think they will mind, do you?

favorite quotes of the week:
1. Me: "Chase, doesn't your sister look like a princess today?"
Chase: "Sissy, you look like a princess today... or a dragon."
2. " I need another bar so my tummy can grow big"

3. Chase was trying to talk me into putting someting good into his quesadilla...
"That's a good deal mom, you could put cranberries in my quesadilla.."

dragon lady
is what Chase called her when she tried to cut his hair. I was in Charleston this past weekend b/c my grandfather got an award at the heart ball. We are SO proud of Daddy Papoo - The Lifetime Achievement Award - only 100 doctors in the US get this award every year. GO DP!!! Anyhow, I stayed until Monday & my sister I & (& her 3 youngest kids) went to go get haircuts. Chris's brother, Warren, is getting married this weekend, & Chase DESPERATELY needed a haircut. We walked into a little barber shop called Causey's that pretty much every male in Charleston goes to & has been going to since they were 2.5 yrs. old. And I think that the decor is pretty much the same as it was when they were 2.5 too if you know what I mean... Anyhow, we walked in with snacks, drinks, everything we needed to make it just in case they said we had to wait.
"Who's next?" The woman yelled at us after we waited a few minutes. Kat told me to go ahead w/ Chase first.
"Come on Chase, go up to the chair," I said. "Here is your sucker"
" No mommy!"
"What? But you love to get your haircut!"
"No mommy!
"Come on Chase...(after all, the wedding was this weekend!)
"NO MOMMY!!!"
So.. I pick him up & put him in the chair & his legs start kicking, no flailing EVERYWHERE.
"No mommy, no!!"
"Yes, Chase.. you have to!"
So finally after a lot of screaming we decided that maybe Grey should go first & Chase could watch. Grey is exactly 7 days older than Chase & they are definitely from 2 different planets. Grey is quiet as a mouse, obedient, & super laid back.. so of course he hops up into the chair to get his haircut like a good little boy.
"Neaaxxttt.."" The hair stylist says in her Charleston twang accent.
"Come on Chase, let's go."
"I ain't gonna be able to cut his hair if he is kickin' like that"
"Okay, well what if I hold him down?"
"Well, you can try but it might not be a decent haircut"
"That's fine, let's try"
At this point I glanced across the room & some random lady (literally... I had never seen this woman before in my life) was holding Ellison. WHAT??? Who was she? I guess my sister had handed the baby off to her b/c her other son was getting ready to sit up in the haircut chair, but really.. who was this lady? She just looked up at me & smiled... and again I was distracted by this.....
"No, no!!! She's the dragon lady!! She's the dragon lady!!!
(Oh wow, this is SOOOOO embarassing...)
"Get away from me, dragon lady!!"
"Now little boy, I am gonna take away that sucker - those are only for good little boys."
(He is right, she really IS the dragon lady)
"No, get that dragon lady away from me!"
He wriggles & screams his way through the whole haircut w/ me pinning him down. WHY is everything with this age SOOO difficult?? It was kind of funny though.. hehe!!

If only arranged marriages were really that awesome. I am a little jealous that I don't have a sweet wife picked out for Harrison. Like he has a choice anyway...
Your photos are AWESOME!
